P - Jerry is in the sea and he is talkin about the fish.
C - Page 24 throughout the first paragraph.
Q - "motionless,make a dart"
E - Lessings use of contrast creates an effective image of the movement of the fish.
Q - "like a water dance"
E - Lessing uses a simile to further describe the movement of the fish.
Q - "sparkled as if sequins"
E - The writers use of a simile and alliteration emphasises again the movement of the fish and what they appear as in the water.
Q - "like swimming in flaked silver"
E - Lessing uses a simile to convey the colour and size of the fish.
P - Jerry has admiration for the older boys diving from the rock which is described here,
C - In the last few sentences of the first paragraph on page 24.
Q - "big boys"
E - Jerry refers to the other children as big boys as he looks up to them. Alliteration is used to reinforce how much he lookes up to them.
Q - "white sand, black"
E - The contrast here creates a powerful visual image of the black rock protruding out of the sea in comparison to the white sand.
